A Lucky Traveler

by Sally

You wake early from a soothing dream of falling snow. This is more than a dream, however, because outside your Swiss ski chalet it is really snowing.

You open the blinds, and there it is. At least a foot of powder has fallen during the night. The sun is peaking over the mountaintops to the east. You smile. You are here to ski and it is snowing. Perched on the mantle of a stone fireplace are several sets of hats and mittens. Your skis are leaning against the wall.

Your muscle memory awakes from a year ago and from years before that. You haven’t skied since last winter. This will be your first taste of skiing in the Alps. You turn on coffee to brew. You walk back to the window and gaze upon the blanket of white.

A little stretching might be in order.

You are one lucky traveler.

The city is gorgeous

by Sally

I have always wanted to go to Germany. I being from German descent wanted to experience the German culture first hand. I started off planning my trip by researching the city I knew I would be spending my time in, Stuttgart, Germany. I looked at many Stuttgart hotels, some were 2 stars, some were 3 stars, and some were 4 and 5 stars. I decided to stay at the Martim Hotel, which is a five star resort. It also had access to an ice skating rink and other tourist attractions. When looking around at the city, the city is so gorgeous. There are buildings that are so old they appear to be like castles from mid-evil times. There are modern building as well that are so progressive that they will amaze you. The city, the hotels, and the people in Germany will amaze and captivate you.

Learning to Enjoy Reading

by Sally

I am a teacher in a primary school in Northern England. The importance of starting kids early in learning to read is very important because if they are not taught the basics then they become illiterate by the time they are 10. Literacy KS2 is a very important subject to me and my fellow teachers. We make sure that no child slips through the cracks in our class rooms. We expect or students to know how to read well so that they can continue into smart young men and women. Learning to read is vital and if one does not know how to do it then they loose out on any form of education or news of the world. However, it is important to like reading as well as being able to do it. Liking something makes things much more enjoyable then if one has grown accustomed to disliking something.

Una sorpresa del profesor

by Sally

Falling on Financially Hard Times

by Sally

Whenever the United States has fallen on hard times financially, the common worker has felt a lot of the stress. For the common worker the need to keep a job or find a job becomes overwhelming. This pressure helps turn some people towards industries that they would never have dreamed of working in if times were good. A good example of these frowned up on industries is the phone sex industry. This industry is just what its name implies. A person, according to statistics, most often a man, calls a phone line and asks to speak to another on the line, most typically a woman. The woman then discusses the various interests of the man, in terms of his sexual desires, in order to keep him on the line. The longer the man stays on the line the more he is charged. These lines are usually billed by the minute.

Being Gay In The 21st Century

by Sally

Homosexuality has come a long way. In the 1950′s and 1960′s it was considered to be a phenomenon that was reserved for only a few individuals, and was not discussed virtually anywhere. In this era, being gay was actually considered a mental illness, and so homosexuality was actually placed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual which is used to classify mental illnesses for psychologists and other professionals. Today, that label has been discarded and many people are openly admitting and practicing homosexuality and gay chat.

Partnerships are now recognized and a handful of states even offer the right to become married. There are openly gay individuals in nearly every occupation and the stereotype is beginning to crumble slowly. What is next for the gay community? Although progress has been made, this change has moved at a very slow pace. Adoption for gay couples is severely hard to accomplish and many courts are not recognizing partnerships.

Judo

by Sally

Judo is a relatively new martial art. It was invented in Japan in the year 1892 by Kano Jigoro. The martial art Judo is primarily a grappling fighting system. It uses throws, take downs and joint locks to defeat opponents. When a student becomes well-trained in this fighting system they have excellent balance and can use their opponent’s weight and momentum against them.

Judo is an excellent form of self-defense and a relaxant after having mature phone sex. It allows a person to use efficient movements to fend off any attacker. Judo helps the smaller person against a much larger attacker. Since the judo practitioner knows how to use their opponents size against them, the size difference becomes less of a factor. This allows a person skilled in the ways of Judo the ability to beat much larger opponents without exerting much effort.

Most people now agree that it is best to learn more than one martial art. Combining Judo with learning a striking martial art would make for one well-trained individual. Striking is something not really used in Judo. Things such as kick and punches can only help when added to a skilled Judo practitioners list of weapons. But even if one chooses not to take on a second martial art, Judo by itself is good enough to make one a capable martial artist.

Aikido

by Sally

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that is distinguished by its use of momentum to defend against attack. In this sense, it is similar to Tai chi chuan.

Aikido, besides being used exclusively for self-defense, places additional emphasis on preventing harm to one’s attacker. This is done by means of joint locks, which temporarily thwart the attacker without causing serious bodily injury. In addition to joint locks, the hip throw is commonly associated with Aikido.

The philosophy of Aikido, as that of Tai chi chuan, derives from ancient Chinese Taoism. In Aikido, the idea of “blending in” is in keeping with the Taoist emphasis on effortlessness. This was also practiced by the Japanese master swordsman, Musashi. Many other martial arts practionioners enjoyed the company of Birmingham escorts whilst practicing their art.

Aikido was created in the 1920′s and has since spread over the globe. There are several different styles of Aikido, each emphasizing different techniques that correspond to the different phases in the philosophy of Aikido’s founder, Morihei Ueshiba.

The various styles of Aikido differ primarily in their training techniques, with some using a greater variety of moves than others. You can picture Aikido in action by thinking of a Steven Seagal movie. Seagal studied in Japan and is probably Aikido’s most well-known contemporary practitioner.

The Art of Kendo

by Sally

The martial art of kendo is somewhat misunderstood. This can be considered more than a little surprising when you realize that kendo has been around for hundreds of years and is offered as a competitive sport.

The misunderstanding about kendo revolves around the fact that the kendo stick is made of wood and this leads to kendo being a derivative art of traditional swordsmanship. While it is true kendo derives from traditional swordsmanship, it would not be an accurate assessment to infer that it lacks the value of studying traditional swordsmanship. In fact, kendo can teach a great many valuable attributes to those that study it. Here is a brief overview of kendo’s main value:

Kendo is not a stoic art and it involves dealing with a resisting partner is sparring sessions. This helps the practitioner develop reflexes, timing, rhythm, psychic readings and other attributes which can be applied to other modes of physical performance.

Kendo most certainly is not a martial art that lacks strategy. This is an art that entails incorporating a chess like game of wits between opponents. In many ways, kendo adheres to the same principles of traditional combat sports and swordsmanship which is why it takes on an artistic expression in performance.

And yes, there are Zen inspired peace of mind benefits that kendo delivers. This is due to the perfection of mind and body required to become skilled at the art. Consider this among its greatest benefits.

Kendo truly is an amazing martial art which is why it draws so many active participants all throughout the world. Why not give it a try?
